moto4lin and the RAZR V3i

Successfully played with File Management and Seem Editing.

Actually I have to retry connection or seem writing a couple times before they succeed, but they eventually do.

Also, in file navigation, I can only see the A unit: shouldn't I also be able to access C and B (which should be the transflash card I have in my phone)? Access to C would certainly be useful.

OK, I just installed the CVS version, and this is solved :). --SukkoPera 15:33, 14 August 2006 (PDT)

Anyway, I am a developer, so if I can help to improve support for this model, just contact me. --SukkoPera 06:57, 14 August 2006 (PDT)

Help requests / Failed setups

No way to make Moto4Lin works with my Motorola RAZR V3i (bought in Italy, carrier Vodafone Italia).

Distribution: Linux Gentoo 2006.0

Kernel: 2.6.17 (with Gentoo patches r8)

Moto4Lin: 0.3_p20051125 (from Gentoo ebuild: app-mobilephone/moto4lin-0.3_p20051125)

Here's how I tried to setup:

1. I plugged-in the USB cable into my PC

2. Then into the mobile (turned on)

3. $ dmesg

usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2

usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 2 choices

4. as root, $ moto4lin

"moto4lin CVS" starts correctly.

5. Settings -> Preferences -> Update List

Vendor ID: 22b8

Product ID: 4810

Manufacturer: Motorola Inc.

Product: Motorola Phone (V3i)

6. I choose this one, highlighting the row

7. I click on 'Set as P2k device'

"Device configuration" takes the correct parameters.

8. I change ACM Device into '/dev/sdb1'

9. I press OK

7. I click the "Connect/Disconnect" button

Moto4Lin outputs:

 Try to connect
 [info] AT phone found
[info] Switching device /dev/sdb1 to P2K mode...
 [error] Unable to connect

Switch your phone to modem mode in its preferences menu. -- wRAR 01:34, 3 November 2006 (PST)

It works (added by Nosun 12:01, 8 March 2007 (PST))

OS: Debian

Kernel: 2.6.20 (vanilla)

moto2lin: SVN Rev. 88

p2kmoto: 0.1-rc1

Your kernel needs USB-ACM-support. CONFIG_USB_ACM=m

You have to switch the Phone-USB-Connection-Setting to Data/Fax. Settings -> Connections -> USB Settings

When you connect the v3i via USB you get the device /dev/ttyACM0 NOT a SCSI-device.

dmesg:

usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 2 choices
 cdc_acm 2-1:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
usbcore: registered new interface driver cdc_acm
drivers/usb/class/cdc-acm.c: v0.25:USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN adapters

Now p2ktest find your phone. Ignore some possible errors after this output.

 Switching to P2K...
 P2k Phone found

My moto4lin Preferences:

 ACM Device: /dev/ttyACM0
 AT Vendor ID: 22b8
 AT Product ID: 4902
 P2K Vendor ID: 22b8
 P2K Product ID: 4901

moto4lin is a great project! Thanks to the moto4lin-Team! - Nosun
