about RAZR V3 and moto4lin

One must trigger the switching to p2k mode externally, eg. by

echo AT+MODE=8 > /dev/ttyACM0

from a console. Sometimes it also helped to start kmobiletools to get the phone in the right state. It doesn't work very reliable, but at least it works.

I don't have this problem. However, I only have a V300 that I flexed to become a V3.
I don't have this problem either, fairly new Black Razr w/OS X Moto4lin.
Connects everytime, edited SEEMs deleted stuff-no problems recent V3 w/OSX 10.4.3
I have had some trouble getting moto4lin to work reliably work on ubuntu, this is what I have figured out to work for my(wife's) V3:
1/ connect v3
2/ start moto4lin
3/ do a 'sudo echo AT+MODE=8 > /dev/ttyACM0'
4/ click Prefs.
5/ update the list
6/ select the v3 and apply as p2k
7/ press OK
8/ exit moto4lin and disconnect phone
9/ connect phone and do a 'sudo echo AT+MODE=8 > /dev/ttyACM0'
10/ run moto4lin and press 'Connect'

all is well if I follow this each time....

This does NOT work for me with a black V3 using Ubuntu Hardy Beta Release (8.04) as of March 29 2008. moto4lin says:

[info] Phone pluged as P2K Try to connect [info] Phone connected as P2K [info] Sending control message failed.. Retry... [info] Sending control message failed.. Retry... [error] Phone is busy. Please try later [error] Unable to get phone model

Connect sequence using Moto4Lin on OS X

This works for me every time:

1/ Connect v3 and launch Moto4Lin
2/ Click Preferences
3/ Refresh USB list
4/ Choose v3 from list and Set as P2k Device
5/ Click Switch to P2K three times (pause a second or so between for it to process)
6/ RAZR beeps to indicate disconnection
7/ Refresh USB list (and note that the P2K Product ID changes from 4902 to 4901)
8/ Click Switch to P2K one last time
9/ Close Preferences
10/ Click Connect

Using the Moto V3 Razr on Ubuntu Hardy (8.04)

It was so hard to find this and the answer is ridiculous simple! Just follow the things at the first post. Then if you did that, you will notice that Moto4Lin keeps giving this error = [info] Sending control message failed.. Retry... . The answer is simple. Disconnect your phone and close Moto4Lin

Connect your phone Open up terminal and type in 'sudo Moto4Lin' Type in your password and voila Moto4Lin isn't giving that error anymore! Just found out. It was a shock for me too!
