New Motorolas: drive a/ and c/ support

Motorola SLVR (L7) has 2 drives: a/ and c/. I think it's not the only motorola phone like this, among new models. In L7, skins, melodies, pictures and user videos are on drive C/, and with moto4lin we can't read it, just drive a/. In the satus bar it's shown: a/c/, but in the file system window we have just a/. I suggest a "new feature": Moto4lin explorer should show as many drives as the phone has.

This is working flawlessly in the current CVS version. --Kingmob 06:53, 16 April 2006 (PDT)

I have an L6, I was finally able to work it out and I can connect via pk2, but I can`t access drive /c/ a couple of sidenotes though, moto4lin does say drives ac but in the browser window i only get a phone+/a/ no /c/ how do i access it?? please if you can tell me the answer ill be on chat squeige@msn.com

Support for V325

I have never used moto4lin before, but I was able to connect to my Verizon v325 via p2k. What I wasn't able to do was to access any of the files. This is what moto4lin said:

[info] Phone connected as P2K [error] Unable to get phone model [error] Unable to get drive name [error] Unable to get file count

The v325 isn't in the supported phones section, so I assume that is why this isn't working.

Support for A920-A1000

Hi, the A920,A925 and A1000 are UIQ based Motorolas, so I understand its more work to get working than the others here, but I would like some support, I have an A925 and an A1000 (Also have access to an E1000) so I can do a lot of the work, its that my programming skills are still basic (Teaching myself). If you can help me here in any way, or if I can help you in any way please contact me at: admiral [deleteme] (at) asw dot id dot au --Admiral Trigger Happy 15:34, 14 March 2006 (PST)

Support for V360

Please!

Current cvs version of moto4lin supports V360. Firstly you have to install cdc_acm support from the kernel. Once you've done that you connect your phone through the USB and you can see from /var/log/messages something like this:

/var/log/messages

May 6 20:25:20 gohan kernel: sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 May 6 20:28:02 gohan kernel: usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 4 May 6 20:28:15 gohan kernel: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 May 6 20:28:15 gohan kernel: usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 2 choices May 6 20:28:15 gohan kernel: cdc_acm 2-2:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device May 6 20:28:15 gohan usb.agent[2731]: Keeping default configuration with /sys//devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-2 May 6 20:29:32 gohan kernel: usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 5 May 6 20:29:35 gohan kernel: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 6 May 6 20:29:35 gohan usb.agent[2874]: Keeping default configuration with /sys//devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-2 May 6 20:29:35 gohan kernel: usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 2 choices

/var/log/messages

The line you are interested is the one that identifies the usb device, which is /dev/ttyACM0.

You run moto4lin and in the preferences (Connection), you edit your ACM device in /dev/tty/ACM0 in P2K Vendor ID: 22b8 and in P2K Product ID: 4901. You can update these values by clicking in the Update List, selecting your motorola device and setting it as p2k device. Note, that sometimes the Product ID is reffered as 4902, this results to not being able to connect your phone, so you should manualy edit it with 4901 value. As far as I've seen, for AT protocol the product ID should be 4902.

Once you are done just hit the connection button and everything will work fine.

Support for V60

Need support for updating the phone book on the V60 from Linux.

Nothing to do with moto4lin. Look to KMobiletools project.

Make event-based texts translateable

Feature request: it would be very nice to make the event-based texts (in p2kproc.cpp etc.) translatable. Translating the application to (for example) german with the status messages still being in english doesn't make 100% sense ;) thx. bowman 17:14, 14 December 2005 (PST)

Done in CVS

P2KFunc csv file support

support for v975

I would really recommend support for that device. What is the main trouble? Could I help to programm it by myselfe?

Mine is working only in AT Mode not in the P2K mode. What's the reason for it?

Please post lsusb -v output in AT and P2K modes in mailing list

here's the lsusb output

Bus 001 Device 006: ID 22b8:3001 Motorola PCS

it seems to be quite similar to V980.

I've installed p2kmoto too

as usual there's always a solution http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3394276

support for v635

Supported

It would be nice to sync KOrganizer

KMobiltools has promised to make this possible with the help of Moto4lin since summer. But their project seems to be dead/inactive. It would be nice, if they would get some support or this feature could be integrated into Moto4Lin directly--Niwi 14:31, 29 December 2005 (PST)

I've just implemented this in current svn trunk, and i'm searching for testers. Unfortunately for the moment i'll keep it read-only (you can import from mobile to korganizer, but not viceversa), since currently motorola writing commands are undocumented.. yes i already discovered them, so it's possible to have write support.. but i've no time now... i hope i'll add it on kmobiletools 0.6. Serious bug

I have noticed, that in my machine (Gentoo Linux) the ACM device is /dev/ttyACM0 and NOT on a /dev/usb/acm/0! I think this is because udev or new kernel. Please consider this for fixing. I think there is a lot of people who get this problem. You should search both paths. The /dev/ttyACM0 and /dev/usb/acm/0. You should implent a scanner like "ls /dev/ | grep ACM" :) I had this problem with Motorola E398 with kernel 2.6.15 and udev 077. Also you should give users a message that if program can't detect theyre mobile phone, maybe they need to compile in ACM support in theyre kernel. Obsrv 16:04, 14 January 2006 (PST)

to your first point: i dont think that this is a bug, cause you can set the path by yourself. you never can say that the device node is just on one point on all distributions.
that ACM erros message would be nice. --H 00:06, 15 January 2006 (PST)
I understand that it is not a bug. But in first run app should ask user to plugin his mobile phone, so app can scan all possible ACM devices in the system and find where it is. It surely would help newusers. Obsrv 09:19, 15 January 2006 (PST)

Button click to backup/recover

This would be a nice and usefull feature :)

Mount the phone

via FUSE? That would be cool.

Thank you for your work guys BTW... cheers, Tygr007 15:18, 19 January 2006 (PST)

Yes or a command line program. It would be good to make some scrips and be able to automatice the phone buck up with hotplug and that.MarkU 15:18, 18 May 2006 (PST)

Flash/Flex

Being able to change flash and flex on Motos with Moto4Lin would make it even more wonderful :) --Kingmob 06:55, 16 April 2006 (PDT)

See Flashing for details. --dion 14:11, 18 April 2006 (PDT)

ASCII seem editing

It would be nice to see the ASCII equivalents of the hex in the seem editor. Editing some seems (like seem 0061_0001, external LCD display text) would be a lot easier.

Support for RAZR V3c

Support for the CDMA version of the razr would be nice.

Support for RAZR V3i

Any support for the RAZR V3i? It recognizes the AT device but fails to connect as P2K.

I have the RAZR V3i working just fine, following the howto on this wiki. Check your phone settings, connect as data/speech. Otherwise, Linux (Debian here) will mount it as /dev/sda1 /media/usb0 instead of /dev/ttyACM0. start moto4lin as root (or sudo moto4lin).

GoTo: Settings -> Preferences... Set 'ACM Device' = '/dev/ttyACM0' Then we need to figure out the following,

  • 'AT Vendor ID', "22b8"
  • 'AT Product ID', "4902"
  • 'P2K Vendor ID', "22b8"
  • 'P2K Product ID'. "4901"
Also, retry a few times if it doesn't connect immediately. Please report on the wiki page dedicated to this model (I've opened it myself today). --SukkoPera 15:15, 14 August 2006 (PDT)

Support for RIZR z3

Hi, a support for the brand new RIZR z3 would be very very nice ;) Thanks !!!!

I'll second that. Looks like it will recognize the phone and connect, but that's all; nothing really works. Thanks making the only p2k app on the Mac!

I'll third that!!

---

Hi, I have a quick patch to make moto4lin work on the RIZR Z3. First of all download the source, then grab this file and use it to replace the original one (in trunk/moto4lin/moto_ui directory).

Build the application following the instruction and good luck!

NOTE: this patch make moto4lin work on the Z3 but probably useless on the other models!

Support for RAZR V3xx

I'm really waiting for it. You can find more information about this mobile phone here: http://moto4lin.sourceforge.net/wiki/Razr_V3xx
